Sharapova wins in Italy

Russian Maria Sharapova ground down Carla Suarez Navarro 4-6 7-5 6-1 to win the Italian Open yesterday, the 35th WTA Tour title of her career. Sharapova seemed to be cruising going 3-1 ahead in the first set before Suarez Navarro fought back. She also came from 1-3 and 3-5 down in the second to level at 5-5.But Sharapova tore through the decider, sealing victory in more than two-and-a-half hours to climb to third in the world in the latest rankings released this morning. ..
