One killed, 15 others injured during a truck and taxi collision

A man was killed and 15 other people injured on Thursday afternoon when a truck and a taxi collided at the intersection of Main Reef and Robert roads in Roodepoort‚ west of Johannesburg‚ emergency service workers said.

ER24 paramedics‚ along with other services‚ arrived on scene and found the two wrecked vehicles in the middle of the intersection. The medium-duty truck was lying on its side up against the taxi.

Rescue services had to use jaws-of-life equipment to extricate three people who were trapped in the taxi. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries‚ while the other two are in a critical condition.

Thirteen other people suffered minor to moderate injuries in the accident.
