Parole bid fails for Baby Jordan's killers

Two men jailed for killing six-month-old Jordan-Leigh Norton, in a crime that rocked South Africa in 2005, will have to wait another year before the parole board can consider their release. Bonginkosi Sigenu and Zanethemba Gwada pleaded for release at a hearing yesterday at Drakenstein Prison in Paarl.Sigenu, Gwada, Sipho Mfazwe and Mongezi Bobotyane were paid R10000 by Dina Rodrigues to kill Jordan-Leigh, the daughter of her boyfriend, Neil Wilson, and his former girlfriend, Natasha Norton.In 2007 the Cape Town High Court sentenced Rodrigues, Mfazwe and Bobotyane to life in prison. Sigenu and Gwada were sentenced to 15 years for the murder and robbery. They are the only ones to apply for parole.Western Cape Correctional Services' Simphiwe Xako said the parole board had ordered that the two remain in jail for another year before their application could be heard.They will reappear before the board on June 17 next year. The board recommended that they continue psychological assessment, and other rehabilitation programmes, and participate more in the department's restorative justice programme...
