Stage 2 load shedding hits South Africans

Eskom has simultaneously announced that Stage 1 and Stage 2 load shedding will be implemented today. Stage 1 load shedding was to kick in at 16:00 until 17:00 today. Stage 2 load shedding was then be implemented from 17:00‚ which was likely to continue until 22:00 this evening.Eskom did not provide specific reasons for this‚ except to repeat its standard statements.These were that "this is due to increased electricity demand and a shortage of generation capacity resulting from technical faults at some of our power station units". The utility also reiterated‚ "As we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country‚ we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm"...
