Cost of living gets more expensive from tomorrow

From tomorrow‚ July 1‚ eTolls are a reality‚ municipal water & lights bills will go up and petrol will cost an extra 40 plus cents a litre. Water will increase on average by 14% in the three major cities of Ekurhuleni‚ Tshwane and Johannesburg. The average electricity average increase in the three cities will be 15%.Property rates in the three metros will also rise by 8% in Tshwane‚ Ekurhuleni by 7.5% and Joburg by 6%.Motorists nationwide can brace for a 44 cents a litre increase in the price of 93 petrol and 41 cents for 95.In Gauteng‚ the first phase of controversial e-toll dispensation comes into effect. This means that‚ for light vehicles‚ the monthly cap is R225 for Sanral account holders. “We remind road users that all aspects of the new dispensation on the Gauteng e-roads will take place over the next 18 months‚” Sanral’s Head of Communications‚ Vusi Mona‚ said in a government website report. He added that Sanral is working with the Department of Transport on the administrative and legal processes to implement the new dispensation – and close any loopholes.The implementation date of the 60% discount on existing debt in arrears‚ dating back to December 2013‚ will be announced by the Minister of Transport‚ once it becomes available‚ Sanral said.-RDM News Wire..
