Two serious taxi accidents today kill 8‚ injure 20

Eight people were killed and nine hurt in a crash on the R612 in KwaZulu-Natal today‚ while 11 people were injured when the driver of a Toyota Venture lost control in Montgomery Park‚ Johannesburg.

Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokeswoman Edna Mamonyane said the vehicle rolled and ended up in the veld. Several passengers were ejected from the car as it rolled. It is currently not known what caused the accident.

Paramedics on the scene of the accident‚ on West Park Road‚ treated 11 patients‚ one of whom was critical. The others had moderate injuries.

Earlier today‚ KZN Emergency Medical Services said eight people were killed and at least nine injured in a crash between a minibus and a truck on the road towards Bulwer‚ in the Midlands.

Paramedics from several ambulance services‚ including KZN Emergency Medical Services‚ treated the injured.

Two of the patients are critically injured while seven patients are in a serious condition.
