Man dies in bizarre crash

Paramedics were left gobsmacked yesterday after their ambulance was stolen by a truck driver who had, moments earlier, ploughed into a tow truck. Rescue Care operations director Garrith Jamieson said his team was leaving an accident scene in Bellair, south of Durban, when they saw a truck speeding towards a parked tow truck.The driver smashed into the tow truck, while its driver was inside, pushing it down an embankment."Paramedics found the critically injured breakdown operator. They tried to save him, but he had suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene," he said.But the truck driver was gone."While the paramedics were attending to the patient, the truck driver stole the ambulance."Bystanders gave chase until he was involved in a high-impact collision. He was arrested and taken into custody. ..
