Load shedding for all of Thursday

06 August 2015 - 12:13 By RDM News Wire

Eskom didn’t bother with a load shedding outlook on Thursday. Instead of the stock-standard “load shedding prognosis for today is low for the morning and high for the evening” announcement‚ the utility opened its Twitter account this morning to say: “#PowerAlert: #Load_shedding stage 1 is in progress until 22h00 today.”Load shedding this week has mostly been implemented towards the late afternoon as power demand increases.Demand apparently came earlier on Thursday as Eskom’s media desk tweeted that the load shedding was “due to increased demand and units being on maintenance”.The news did not go down well with most of Eskom’s followers whose tweets contained words like “useless”‚ “incompetence” and “banana republic”‚ but ‏@Tshepi_71322 tried a more genteel approach: “@Eskom_SA Thanks for update...we dont need stage2 today please"...
