Former Jozi FM DJ Donald “DJ Donald Duck” Sebolai was so “shocked” and in denial after his girlfriend's death that he walked around in a confused daze for more than a week after the incident. This is what Sebolai‚ who is testifying in his defence in his murder trial‚ asked the Johannesburg High Court‚ sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate's Court southeast of Johannesburg‚ to believe on Wednesday.Sebolai‚ 38‚ allegedly murdered his girlfriend Flavia Rachel “Dolly” Tshabalala‚ 32‚ at his Soweto flat on June 29 last year.Sebolai‚ who has pleaded not guilty‚ testified on Tuesday that Tshabalala had attacked him after the couple fought‚ and that she was stabbed as he tried to defend himself.Sebolai said that when he realised that Tshabalala was wounded‚ he moved her to his bed‚ cleaned her blood off the floor‚ changed her trousers and put some of her bloodied clothes in her car.During this time‚ Tshabalala was still alive and he did all this with the intention of taking her to a hospital‚ Sebolai said. But when he returned from the car Tshabalala was dead‚ he said.Sebolai said he called for Tshabalala a number of times‚ shook her and performed CPR on her‚ but received no response.Sebolai had little explanation for his behaviour following Tshabalala's death‚ saying only that he was confused‚ in shock and believed that she would wake up.Sebolai said he lied to Tshabalala's best friend‚ Nonhlanhla Mkhize‚ the morning she died‚ telling her that he and Tshabalala were at a place eating‚ when Tshabalala was really dead‚ because he hoped that she would somehow wake up.Mkhize testified earlier that Sebolai called her that morning and told her that he had killed her friend. Sebolai denies this‚ saying that he eventually told Mkhize later that Tshabalala had passed on.The DJ then told the court that he spent the following days walking around Soweto aimlessly and confused‚ not thinking of what he ate or if he bathed‚ but only of what had happened to Tshabalala. It was only on the day of his arrest‚ on July 8‚ that Sebolai came to his senses and decided to hand himself over to the police‚ he said.Sebolai said that he called a friend to take him to Jabulani Police Station.Police arrested Sebolai that morning after following him and his friend and finally pulling them over on a road in Soweto. The DJ also faces charges of theft and defeating the ends of justice for allegedly stealing Tshabalala's car and removing evidence from the crime scene. He has also pleaded not guilty to these charges. The trial continues. - TMG Courts and Law..
