King Noah lampooned

Trevor Noah might be entertainment royalty but that hasn't stopped other comedians from poking fun at him. This weekend, in his absence, it came as no surprise that the 31-year-old comedian was crowned Comic of the Year at the annual Comics Choice Awards ceremony in Johannesburg. Noah was also awarded the Flying Solo award, which recognises comedians who put on a one-man show.In true South African comedy style, Noah was the subject of many jokes. Comedian Alan Committee opened the show by warning the audience not to ask other comedians about Noah or how to contact him.Earlier this year, Noah made international headlines when he was named as the new host of The Daily Show, taking over from Jon Steward next month.This has opened up opportunities for other South African comedians who want to pursue global opportunities.Noah was unable to attend the ceremony. His first award was accepted by "The Devil", who performed a five-minute stand-up routine in which he awkwardly roasted Noah and resuscitated rumours that Noah stole other comedians' jokes.Later, in a prank, Tumi Morake was mistakenly announced as the winner of the Comic of the Year title. She then handed the award over to "Noah" in a poorly executed skit.Accepting the award on his behalf was his ZA News puppet, who sang "Unaffordable" to the popularUnforgettable tune.Among the adapted lyrics was the line "Since I've gone to fill Jon Steward's seat, local comedians can now afford to eat".Other winners were Goliath & Goliath, Schalk Bezhuidenhout and Joe Mafela...
