We need better leadership

Where is the freedom, equality and a better quality of life the ANC promised? All I see is bad governance, corruption, unemployment and a police "service" that, like so many organs of state, is useless and broken.During apartheid, the media stood up to the government's evils - now, for the most part, the media appears cowed, compromised or powerless. The government appears more interested in propping up China's economy than developing our own.Hundreds of local factories close and thousands of would-be workers starve to make way for Chinese imports. The country's borders are wide open with no effective immigration controls.Immigrants send more money out of the country than they spend while in it.Bribery and corruption has become a common practice throughout the country - and President Jacob Zuma, forever mired in scandal, is not the man to end this.If anything, he is a symbol of greater corruption. To all those who steal from the public purse, know this: you steal from the poor, you steal the future of their children, and sooner or later you will pay the price for the grief you cause. My only hope is that, when our government is cleansed again of oppressors, men and women of principle take over the reins. We have millions of good people in the country, and ultimately good will always triumph over evil.To prosper, the country must be governed by its best and brightest. This is the country we deserve: one where opportunity knocks for all, but there is no place for corruption. ..
