The bail application of Nelson Mandela's grandson will only be heard on Friday afternoon at 2pm because the defence was not ready to proceed in the morning. The man‚ who cannot be named until he has pleaded‚ faces charges of rape‚ attempted rape and sexual assault. He appeared briefly in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Friday morning where his lawyer Nico Swart indicated that the defence agrees that the alleged offence‚ the rape of a minor‚ is listed in Schedule 6 of the Criminal Procedure Act.Bail is not granted easily in such cases. It was reported that the man allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in the bathroom of a restaurant in the party strip of Greenside‚ Johannesburg‚ earlier this month.Swart asked for the matter to stand down while affidavits that would be used to apply for bail were being commissioned. The relatives of the accused - Ndaba‚ Makaziwe and Ndileka Mandela - were seated in the packed courtroom during the proceedings. - RDM News Wire, TMG Courts and Law..
