A Limpopo man allegedly killed his four children by slitting their throats with a knife before attempting to commit suicide in a village of Magatle at the weekend, police said.

According to EWN, the 36 year-old man was arrested for the murders and is currently recovering in a Polokwane hospital after attempting to kill himself.

Limpopo police spokesperson Ronel Otto said it was still unclear what led the man to committing the murders.

“It’s alleged that the man and his wife were not on good terms and after he visited her in Gauteng, he came back to the Magatle area where it is further alleged that he killed his four boys by slitting their throats with knife.

“He’s currently in hospital and as soon as he’s better, he will appear in court on charges of murder.”

The children, aged 13, 10, 6, and 4, lived with his mother-in-law in the same area. On Friday morning he picked them up and drove to Gauteng to see his wife.
