Dark night in Manchester as City, United lose

Italian champions Juventus cast their early-season woes aside by beating in-form Manchester City 2-1 in their opening Champions League Group D fixture at Etihad Stadium last night. Last season's beaten finalists found themselves behind in the 57th minute when Vincent Kompany pressured Giorgio Chiellini into scoring an own goal.But Juventus drew level 13 minutes later through Mario Mandzukic before Alvaro Morata curled home a fine 81st-minute winner.VfL Wolfsburg threw down the gauntlet to Group B favourites Manchester United before their Old Trafford clash in a fortnight with a 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow.Germany midfielder Julian Draxler scored his first goal for his new club as Wolfsburg marked their return to the Champions League after a six-year absence with a win over the same side they beat 3-1 on their competition debut back in September 2009.United lost 2-1 to PSV Eindhoven, with Luciano Narsingh scoring a second-half winner .United's Memphis Depay returned to the club where he made his name and reminded spectators of his prowess with a stunning 41st-minute opener.PSV, however, caught the visitors napping at a corner in first-half stoppage time as Hector Moreno equalised before a swift breakaway set up the 57th-minute winner.Cristiano Ronaldo moved three goals clear of Lionel Messi as the Champions League top scorer when he netted a hat-trick for Real Madrid in a 4-0 victory over 10-man Shakhtar Donetsk in their Group A opener last night.Angel Di Maria brought his delicate touch to Paris St Germain's game as the French champions started their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 home win against Malmo last night.Di Maria scored after four minutes of their Group A match and Edinson Cavani made it 2-0 in the 61st in a one-way encounter at the Parc des Princes...
