Suspected Bellville serial rapist arrested

Western Cape police have arrested a suspected serial rapist who was being sought for 12 rape cases committed in the city of Bellville. Police spokesman Constable Noloyiso Rwexana said the arrest of the 31-year-old suspect in Gugulethu on Thursday was the result of tireless and hard work by a group of dedicated investigators. “The suspect’s modus operandi was to offer a job to ladies standing at Voortrekker road looking for employment. The suspect would tell victims that he will employ them in an undertaker company. He would then ask victims to accompany him to the building that is situated close to the Bellville railway line. On the way he will drag victims to the bushes nearby and rape them at knife point. In most case victims were robbed of their cellphones and cash‚” Rwexana said.“During the investigation of the last rape reported‚ the victim was robbed of her cellphone which had a tracker and the suspect was followed for a week by FCS and Crime Prevention members attached to Bellville. The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear at Bellville magistrate court Monday facing a 12 rape charges‚” Rwexana added...
