Party goers who attended the Major Leagues Gardens music festival on Saturday will each have to fork out R2,510 to retrieve their vehicles from the police compound in Johannesburg.

The cars were impounded because they were obstructing traffic and were parked illegally around Innes Free Park in Sandton.

According to The Star, metro police had to remove the cars while revellers enjoyed themselves at the event which featured local music artists such as AKA, DA LES, Kwesta, Bucie and various DJs. Some people thought their cars had been stolen.

Wayne Minaar, spokesman for JMPD said the cars were at the police impound in downtown Joburg.

“They can go to the JMPD car pound on Village and Loveday streets," he said.

The event begun at 12pm and contrary to posters advertising the do, it ended at 10pm instead of 12pm. Police told The Star this was arranged beforehand with event organisers, Banele and Bandile Mbere.

The duo go by the name Major League DJs and kicked off the bi annual event at the beginning of the year.
