A fruit and vegetable hawker is expected in the Galeshewe Magistrate’s Court next week after police found drugs worth R10 000 between his produce.

Police received a tip-off about drugs being sold from a stall at the Santa Centre on Thursday, police spokesperson Lieutenant Sergio Kock said in a statement.

“The owner of the stall tried to flee when police arrived. A chase ensued and the suspect was arrested not far from the scene,” he said.

“Police found mandrax, tik, cocaine and 29 pokes of dagga hidden between the fruit and vegetables.”

The 39-year-old suspect faces a charge of drug dealing.
