Federal Reserve outlook could give rand a boost

The rand could continue to tick stronger this week on the latest dovish outlook on interest rates from the US Federal Reserve, said Investec economist Kamilla Kaplan. No major economic data is due to be released in South Africa in the next few days, but second-tier data in the form of civil judgments for debt will be noted for an indication of the financial situation of consumers during the third quarter.Kaplan said consumers were highly indebted, with a debt-to-disposable income ratio of 77.8% in the second quarter, while survey evidence points to relatively tight consumer credit conditions. ..
