15 October 2015 - 02:05 By Yolisa Mkele and Andrea Nagel

International retail giant H&M is on its way to South Africa. We tracked down the company's country manager, Par Darj. Tell us a little about H&M?H&M is a Swedish fashion retail company established in 1947. Our idea is to bring fashion and quality to the consumer at the best price and in a sustainable way.Describe the H&M market? We cater to a growing middle class that wants to be fashion-able but perhaps can't afford some of the more high-end brands. We have 3700 stores in 58 countries. What differentiates H&M from other big clothing brands recently launched in South Africa? What customers love about us is the speed at which we make our fashion available. We have new garments coming into our stores every day. In the past we've worked with Karl Lagerfeld and Balmain to bring exclusive garments to the public at a good price. How will H&M make ranges applicable to the local market? What we have seen is that fashion has become global. What people are looking for from us is international fashion. What's the price range?Whenever people see the prices they're generally surprised by the value. Some of the garments cost R199, R299, R399. Of course the prices go up from there.H&M opens on Saturday in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town with exclusive opening offers.H&M opens in Sandton City next month, and in the Mall of the South, Clearwater Mall and Mall of Africa in autumn next year...
