Eighteen children were injured when a bakkie overturned in Edendale‚ Pietermaritzburg on Monday.
The driver of the bakkie could not be found at the scene.
ER24 paramedics arrived on scene to find the bakkie lying along the road and the pavement. Children that had been traveling in the bakkie were found walking and sitting around the vehicle.
Paramedics examined the injured and found that 18 had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
There were no serious injuries.
The patients were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to various hospitals for further treatment.
It is understood that the driver lost control of the vehicle around a corner‚ causing it to roll.
The driver of the bakkie was not found on scene.
Local authorities were on scene to investigate further.
