Exactly a year after Bafana Bafana goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed, police have said that new information on the case has come to light.

National police spokesperson Lieutenant-General Solomon Makgale told the Sowetan on Monday that the police remain confident his killers will be arrested.

“We follow every lead we get. We are currently following up on new information. More than 100 statements have been obtained from people (possible witnesses),” Makgale told the daily.

“The number of people who have been questioned so far is 30. We continue to get new information all the time.”

Meyiwa was gunned down in at the house of his girlfriend Kelly Khumalo’s house in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg.

The Orlando Pirates captain was murdered in the presence of Khumalo, her mother, her sister Zandi, Zandi's boyfriend Longwe Twala, Meyiwa's friends Mthokozisi Twala and Tumelo Madlala and Khumalo's four-year-old son Christian.
