Kate Winslet, star of the new Steve Jobs film, has said parents should take iPads "out of their children's hands" as they are "losing control" of them to a world of social media. The actress has urged parents to "stay in touch" with their kids and insist on playing games that don't involve a touch screen."I think the parents are losing control, especially if they're busy parents," she told the British Sunday Times."It's really hard to keep your finger on the pulse. It's an incredibly powerful educational resource if it's used correctly. But I think the problem is a lot of these things aren't being used correctly. I think they're being completely abused."Winslet stars as Joanna Hoffman, Apple's former international head of marketing, who worked closely with Jobs from the early days of the company's creation.The actress has always maintained that she does not allow social media in her home and says she is the "least techie person" she knows."Take the device out of their hand," Winslet said. "Don't let them sleep with it. Play Monopoly. These things are not rocket science. Do drawing games. If we go to the pub we always take paper and pen."You have to stay in touch with your kids. It's as simple as that. When they want to go up to their room for an hour to do whatever they're doing, know what they're doing. And put parental controls in place." ..
