Mpumalanga police have launched a manhunt for a man believed to have killed another man, gouged out his eyes and kept them at his house.

According to Mpumalanga police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the body of the 28-year-old man was found at a yard in Jerusalem near Masoyi outside Hazyview on Monday.

"We are on a manhunt for a known suspect, who is suspected to have killed a man after a fight. The victim was found near a shop next to the suspect's home on Monday. We found that the deceased was hit with a sharp object on his head. His eyes had been removed and community members found the eyes at the suspect's home," said Mohlala.

Mohlala added that the community members set the suspect's house on fire.

"He managed to run away and he is at large as we speak. We are investigating a case of arson in light with the burning of the house and murder in relation to the man's killing," said Mohlala.
