Top SA rugby official steps into the hot seat at Sanzar

Andy Marinos will be Sanzar's new CEO. The former Welsh international and long-time South African rugby office bearer replaces Brendan Morris, who has kept the seat warm in a caretaker capacity since Greg Peters vacated it earlier this year to become CEO of the Argentina Rugby Union.When The Times reached Marinos in Sydney yesterday the battery of his mobile phone apparently ran empty.He later let it be known that he could not comment until his appointment had been confirmed.Marinos has occupied the Sanzar hot seat previously but that was by virtue of his position as the South African Rugby Union's acting managing director in 2009.Until 2011 the position of chief executive officer as well as chairman of Sanzar had been awarded on a rotational basis between the member associations. ..
