A former Orlando Pirates dribbling wizard, Steve Lekoelea, was arrested after he was found driving a suspected stolen car in Orange Farm, south of Johannesburg, last week Tuesday.

“He has been charged with fraud and possession of a suspected stolen vehicle,” police spokesman Captain Johannes Motsiri told The Star newspaper on Wednesday.

Motsiri added that the fraud case centred around the licence disc found on the car. According to the report, the car allegedly had a fake licence plate and a fake licence disk.

The white hatchback VW Polo was reported stolen on November in 2014 and was registered under the name of a Bloemfontein man, according to the newspaper.

The car is believed to have had Free State number plates at the time of the theft but when police arrested Lekoelea, they found that the car had now been fitted with Gauteng number plates.

It is not clear when Lekoelea will appear in court.
