Bacela scores at last

Lennox Bacela finally broke his duck at University of Pretoria, earning them a point against Free State Stars at the Goble Park Stadium in Bethlehem, yesterday. The former Orlando Pirates striker rose high to head home from a Getaneh Kebede cross before the hour mark, cancelling out Danny Venter's first-half strike. It finished 1-1, a fair result for the struggling sides. It was Bacela's first goal since February and he'll be hoping that yesterday's strike is the first of many, as AmaTuks need someone they can rely on to score goals and get them out of the trouble they are currently in.AmaTuks, who are struggling in the bottom half of the table with just one victory this season, have now collected only six points in their 10 matches. While management would not be too disappointed about earning a point on the road, under-fire coach Sammy Trough-ton knows that they need to start playing better football, and, more importantly, win matches.AmaTuks were poor for the better part of yesterday and it was no surprise that they went into the break trailing.Their defenders gave Ea Lla Koto winger Venter too much time to turn to his favoured left foot and calmly slot the ball home eight minutes before the break to give the hosts a lead.Eager to get something out of the game, Tuks brought on Kebede and Thabo Mosadi at the start of the second half with the aim of putting some pressure on the hosts' defence. It worked as Kebede set up Bacela for the equaliser and he rose highest to head home the Ethiopian's cross 10 minutes into the second period. The students were up in arms on 65 minutes when Kebede's shot looked to have gone over the line, but it was not given. ..
