Call for calm after killing of four in family dispute

KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport‚ Community Safety and Liaison Willies Mchunu has called for calm after the killing of four people allegedly by a family member on New Year’s Day in a village near Ulundi. The four victims were shot dead and four others wounded during a family dispute at their home in Ogodweni village of in the Mahlabathini area‚ Mchunu said‚“It is alleged that the members of the Ntini family had a small dispute and were joined by neighbours in a bid to resolve it.“One member of the Ntini family allegedly drew a licenced firearm and shot dead four people‚ including his father‚” Mchunu said‚ adding that four other people had been wounded and admitted to hospital.He said police had launched a manhunt for the suspect and had opened cases of murder and attempted murder against the accused.“We are shocked that a dispute that could have been easily resolved through the dialogue has now resulted in the loss of four lives and injury to others. This is just not how we should be doing things.“I am‚ however‚ assured that the police are working around the clock to bring to book the suspect who must face the full might of the law. We urge the locals to observe restraint and work with the police to bring the perpetrator to book‚” said Mchunu...
