Three people were killed and three others sustained critical injuries in a head-on collision on the M4 La Mercy, on the Natal north coast, in the early hours of Sunday morning, paramedics said.
“Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene and found accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles, consistent with that of a high impact collision, spread over a large area of the roadway,” Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said.
“Firefighters worked tirelessly using the Jaws of Life to free the injured from the twisted frames of their vehicles. Medics clambered into the wreckage to stabilise the wounded.”
Patients were taken to hospital for further medical care.
