Robbers go retro with good old stick up

Ii Stella, cattle are king and the bank robbers still believe in an old- fashioned stick-up. Over a week ago police and the staff of three at the local Absa branch in the remote North West town were surprised when a former employee walked in and emptied the safe of an undisclosed amount of money.#WANTED This man is being sought by the police following a robbery at Absa Stella branch, North West. pic.twitter.com/x9NRI1bFBE— Yusuf Abramjee (@Abramjee) January 5, 2016async In an age when criminals prefer hitting cash-in-transit vans with assault rifles, this event had a retro feel to it.Jesse James, perhaps, maybe even André Stander.Something of a bygone age."This bank robbery is definitely a one of a kind," said police spokes-man Captain Paul Ramaloko.The man walked into the bank on the morning of January 4 and asked to inspect the safe door.A staff member, who was alone, recognised him and allowed him access to the safe. The suspect then pulled a gun, said Ramaloko .The bank robber made off with a large sum of money.He had an accomplice, who joined him, and the two made off in a getaway car.It is believed that the suspect is from south Gauteng but since the robbery his trail has gone cold.Ramaloko said the organised crime unit had taken over the case and would get their man."We are confident that they will make a break in the case," the police spokesman said...
