Police are investigating the murder of two Swaziland nationals who were found dead less than a day after entering South Africa.

Tonga police spokesperson, Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi, said on Monday that the two bodies were found alongside the Nkomazi River in Masibekela, Mpumalanga, near the Swaziland and Mozambique border.

"We received a call from a community member on Thursday who said they saw the two dead bodies," said Nyambi.

Nyambi said documents identified the men as Mzwandile Nxamiso Vilakazi, 31, from Mkhuzweni and Majawonke Dumisa Bulunga, 29, from Malindza.

Their families have been informed of their deaths.

They had entered South Africa last Wednesday in a silver Mazda with registration number SSD 003 AL, which was missing.

"It looks like they were stabbed in their chests with knifes," said Nyambi.

Police have opened a murder case and anyone with information can contact Detective Constable Kenny Makhubela on 082 544 8544.
