The son of ANC veteran Steve Tshwete says he has joined the DA because "the ANC of today is not the ANC my father fought for". In a letter published on the Rand Daily Mail website yesterday, Lindela Tshwete, 57, said he was dissatisfied with the ANC leadership. He said the party had lost its core values. His father served under former president Nelson Mandela and in Thabo Mbeki's administration as minister of sport and later minister of police.Speaking to the Sunday Times earlier this week, Lindela's step-mother, Pam Tshwete, who is Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, said the family was shocked and disappointed by Lindela's decision.Tshwete is running for a DA seat on the Cape Town city council in this year's local government elections. He said he believed the DA had "what it takes" to take the country forward."It is serious about change."IN HIS OWN WORDS: Why I dumped the ANC for the DA ..
