It was the summer of 1988 when photographer Owen Scarbiena took some test shots of an unknown 14-year-old on the tennis courts at Battersea Park.The girl was Kate Moss and this was her first photo shoot at the start of a career that would see her go on to become the most famous model of our time. Moss had very recently been discovered by Storm Models' talent scout Sarah Doukas, at New York's JFK airport, as the teenager was returning from holiday with her father.When Doukas landed back in the UK she called Scarbiena."I've got this new girl," she told him. "You'll love her. She's just your look.""I was very minimal," Scarbiena said."I shot with a wide aperture, no lights, no make-up."Moss was a natural."Some girls come with a ready-made photo pose and you have to work through that. But I just said to Kate: 'Pretend you're bored waiting at the bus stop,' and she got it." One might say it has been her signature expression ever since.The photographs, which have never been seen before, will be exhibited at Zebra One Gallery in north London later this month.Would Scarbiena like to shoot the supermodel again?
