Crisis Medical spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said the incident happened shortly after 10:00 at the intersection of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Village Way in Sunningdale in north Durban.

Reports from the scene suggested passengers in a passing vehicle opened fire on another car, before fleeing the scene, he said.

No one was injured during the incident.

The motive of the drive-by shooting was unknown and the police were investigating, he said.

Van Reenen said one person was in the car that was shot at.

"It is speculated that three people were in the other car, which fled," he said.
