Striking zoo workers could be dismissed

City Parks had to secure strategic points at Joburg Zoo after striking workers sabotaged vehicles distributing food to animals and electrical and water supply points. We have placed security guards at strategic areas to prevent this from reoccurring.”She said the strike had impacted on visitors.Moodley said they hoped workers would comply with a court interdict forcing workers to return to work on Monday.“Due to the critical work that they carry out‚ failure to return to work could result in dismissal.”Moodley said thanks to 300 volunteers the zoo was operational.“We were inundated with calls from people wanting to help.
