'Hateagrams' flood new Instagram

Photo and video-sharing site Instagram has ruffled feathers with a new algorithm that filters the order in which feeds are updated. Instead of showing posts in chronological order, the app will now show users the feeds that the algorithm thinks a user will be most interested in."The order of photos and videos in your feed will be based on the likelihood you'll be interested in the content, and the time lines," read the post.Instagram was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in 2010. In 2012, Facebook acquired the company for $1-billion (about R15.5-billion). Since then the look and feel of Instagram has changed, offering an experience similar to that of Facebook, including the addition of sponsored adverts.According to USA Today, advertisers probably benefit most as they are likely to pop up more frequently and higher up on a user's time line.Instagram users took to social media to respond to the changes.@camfairfax tweeted: "How is Instagram boutta tell me what I wanna see."@AndreaRussett tweeted: " @instagram plz don't fix something that isnt broken."@NikkiTutorials added: "It breaks my heart @instagram won't listen to users.
