15-minute delays to Kulula and BA flights - #Comair strike update

Comair says it is achieving a 95.6% on-time performance at British Airways and 98.3% at kulula.com since a work stoppage by employees demanding higher salaries.The domestic low-cost airline said on Thursday that its operations are running smoothly‚ despite the industrial action by an estimated 700 ground services staff.The strike mainly by the members of majority union the United Association of South Africa (Uasa) started on Wednesday at about 4.40pm.The company on Thursday said flights are leaving within 15 minutes of scheduled departure times‚ and it would continue to focus on minimising any disruption and inconvenience to its customers.“We have every intention to continue with our daily operations and have extensive contingency plans in place. We may experience longer queues at our check-in and baggage drop counters as each customer’s check-in process could take longer than normal‚” Comair CEO‚ Erik Venter said in a statement.The workers are demanding a 30 % salary increase over three years at 10% per year‚ including an inflation-linked increase‚ while the company is offering an equivalent of 22.5% - or 7.5% per year - increase for the same period.The strike was expected to cause inconveniences and delays in the country’s three biggest international airports‚ OR Tambo‚ Cape Town and Durban...
