Silvering of cinemas

Deadline.com reports some interesting news out of the recent CinemaCon in the US. Turns out that teens are no longer the fastest growing and most dependable demographic when it comes to movie-going. Rather it's the over 50-year-olds keeping US cinemas alive. According to research, they accounted for over 37% or $330-million of movie ticket sales last year.Ricky Gervais is bringing back his most famous comedic creation - the cringeworthy Office boss David Brent. The trailer for Gervais' new film David Brent: Life on the Road has just debuted. The film catches up with Brent 12 years after the end of The Office where they find him ''chasing his dream of rock stardom by self-financing a UK tour with his band". The film releases in August.The Bioscope in Johannesburg hosts the second annual Radio Cinema event tonight at 7.30pm. It's billed as the only night of the year when one doesn't watch anything on screen but rather listens. www.thebioscope.co.za..
