Traffic boss 'rides in royal style'

Msibi, who took over as CEO of the agency in December 2013, allegedly ordered the purchase of a silver-grey Mercedes-Benz E500, valued at just over R1-million, immediately after his appointment.This was allegedly soon followed by another order, for a R1.3-million black Mercedes-Benz S350 sedan.Msibi is also alleged to have used the corporation's high-end Mercedes-Benz Viano for his personal use.These allegations are contained in a request to Public Protector Thuli Madonsela that she investigate Msibi on allegations of wasteful and unauthorised expenditure, maladministration, nepotism and intimidation.The complaint, lodged anonymously, states that each of his four bodyguards has been given the use of a VW GTI Golf 7 worth R345000.The public protector's spokesman, Oupa Segalwe, said: "The public protector is investigating the matter. Issues ... include alleged improper appointment of the chief financial officer and allegations of irregular awarding of tenders."..
