Illegal cigarettes worth R2m seized in Durban raid

Two million rand worth of illicit cigarettes was found during a raid by police in Durban on Saturday. Police spokesman Lt Colonel Shooz Magadulela said Metro and SAPS members held an intelligence driven operation in Mount Edgecombe where a storage unit with illicit cigarette boxes and boxes of fake cigarette was raided."A suspect aged between 35 and 45 was arrested. She was detained for possession of illicit cigarettes‚ contravention of the Tobacco Products Control Act 83/1993‚ contravention of the Customs and Excise act 91/1964‚ and fraud for using a false ID to rent. Investigations are continuing‚" said Magadulela.TMG Digital/Durban Bureau..
