Juror flirts with child rapists

A juror wrote a letter to a child rapist stating "chin up (sexy)" and told him she fought in his corner in the deliberating room, a court has heard.Deborah Dean, 47, of Sheffield, England, was found to have been in contempt of court when she wrote to Shakeal Rehman, who was jailed for raping a 13-year-old girl in 2014.Dean had been on the jury at Rehman's trial but when the letter - and others to one of his co-defendants, signed with a kiss - came to light she ended up on the other side of the judicial system.In the missives she also complained about the other jurors, suggesting they were "snobbish" and had looked down on her because of her Sheffield accent.She told both accused men that if they needed money a letter or a visit, she would be there for them.She accepted that she was in contempt of court by revealing private jury matters and was given a suspended sentence by the Lord Chief Justice, John Thomas.Rehman, Usman Ali and others had been on trial at Sheffield Crown Court in connection with offences against a young girl who was repeatedly subjected to sexual abuse by several men, including rape by Rehman and "sexual activity with a child" by Ali.Rehman was jailed for 12 years and Ali for three...
