Forget streaming your favourite ShowMax series on your laptop. Thanks to a deal with DStv, customers with internet-connected Exploras will now have access to paid-for service ShowMax.ShowMax is said to offer the biggest library of international and local TV series, all of which will now be available on DStv.ShowMax spokesman Richard Boorman said the collaboration meant that there was now another platform for ShowMax to increase its customer base.ShowMax has 25000 episodes of TV shows, including Game of Thrones, Suits and The Big Bang Theory - which amount to about 15000 hours of viewing time."Our customers have told us they would like to see the previous seasons of shows that are currently on DStv," Mark Rayner, CEO of MultiChoice, said yesterday."Adding ShowMax to the DStv Explora puts the entire history of the best TV shows in one place. You see the latest season on DStv, and can binge on previous seasons on ShowMax."Updated software to accommodate ShowMax will be rolled out to all active DStv Exploras in the course of the week. ShowMax will cost R99 per month, with payment via PayPal, credit card or DStv accounts.To access ShowMax customers must connect their Explora decoders to the internet using Ethernet cables or Wi-Fi connectors.More details of the process are available on Connect on the Explora decoder. Customers then need to sign up for the service at ShowMax.com."In South Africa interest in internet TV is entering a new phase. In addition to early adopters we're now seeing a more mainstream customer base wanting to try out the service."For Explora owners this is a risk-free proposition.
