Say cheers to weirdos

Are you too polite to tell a dating chat-site weirdo to take a hike?A new app is taking the brush-off to a new level with its ability to detect texts from creeps that you don't want to chat to.US-based Ad Hoc Labs came up with the "Ghostbot" to detect incoming texts from a person you're hoping not to speak to. Online daters reported "awkward social circumstances" after blocking a person they felt they weren't matched to.Once activated to reject a creepy suitor the app will send automated responses such as "nope" or "I just have no time right now" to requests for a date or a chat.Adam Oxford, of tech website htxt.Africa, said the app was in tune with modern technology."I don't think it says anything about the way we pursue our romantic lives. What technology does very well is it scales."In the old days you may have gone on two or three dates a month if you were lucky. Now you can access a date a day from literally hundreds of thousands of potential dates in one go."In the same way that we rely on Google to acquire a spam filter for our e-mail, it's entirely right that we have some sort of process to filter out candidates for our time," he said.In her experience as MatchVIP owner and a dating coach Bonita Grobbelaar discovered that people found it difficult to "be honest and tell someone that they are not interested in them", or tell them to "get lost"."Most people either just try to ignore and avoid that person. So they don't answer their messages or phone calls."I teach my clients that we are all grown-ups and rejection is part and parcel of the dating game."There is nothing wrong with letting someone know in a cordial manner that you are not interested in getting romantically involved."I find that the other person, although they may be hurt initially, much rather appreciates someone being open and honest with them so that they, too, can move on to the next person."She said saying no to potential love interests was intimidating to many."I teach my clients to just send an unemotional text like: "It was great meeting you but I don't see this getting romantic."Ghostbot is available for Android and iOS, as well as desktop computers...
