Zuma‚ Chinese ambassador bring good news to Tembisa school
A Tembisa school is set to receive badly-needed computers following a visit by President Jacob Zuma and Chinese Ambassador Tian Xuejun on Wednesday.The visit to Marhulana Primary School was part of a Mandela Month tour. The delegation started by inspecting the science and computer laboratories which had been vandalised and broken into over the past three years. Principal Sarah Mahlagare said pupils had been struggling to do their practical work‚ and pleaded with the president to refurbish the buildings‚ a call echoed by school governing body chairperson Freddy Khumalo.Khumalo told Zuma the school has been a soft target for criminals for some time‚ but they had recently intensified their security. The president replied with some good news. "We went to the lab together with the Chinese ambassador and he rescued me. He said‚ 'principal‚ we will give you the computers that you need'. So that commitment will be made." In a speech‚ Zuma also promised to deliver blankets and school bags as part of government’s Mandela Month programme...
