Squatters resist relocation in Cullinan

A municipal office and five vehicles were torched overnight by protesting residents in Cullinan who destroyed property belonging to the City of Tshwane. Protests erupted in Refilwe Township near Pretoria against the municipality which had used metro police and Red Ants to relocate residents who had illegally settled on land‚ eNCA (www.enca.com) reported on Friday.Roads leading into the township were barricaded with rocks and burning debris.Cullinan police spokesman Constable Conny Moganedi said that in addition to the five burnt vehicles‚ another five vehicles were damaged.
