TUT student shot with live ammunition

Police are looking for a private security guard who allegedly shot a student at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) on Thursday afternoon. Violence erupted when Fees Must Fall protesters clashed with students in Tshwane leading to a chaotic scenes in the area as the police tried to disperse students.Police spokeswoman Sally de Beer said the incident happened at the TUT main campus next to the swimming pool area."I have received a report from TUT main campus. It is alleged that a security guard's shot gun went off by mistake shooting a student. In a moment of panic the security guard and two others he was with ran off‚" De Beer said.She said the student was rushed to a local hospital with a leg injury."We have opened a case of attempted murder. We do know the identity of the security guard‚" she said.She added that the security guard used live ammunition prompting the police to confiscate the ammunition."We have confiscated 11 shotguns from the security guards."Student Fees Must Fall protests are still under way on the campus...
