BUM DEAL: Taking Christmas cheer one step too far is the UK's Tesco's supermarket and its introduction of toilet paper that smells like mulled wine. While Tesco says its mulled spice scented toilet tissue will provide an "extra indulgence every day", some customers smell a rat. Comments on Twitter range from "feels like wiping your ass with last night's hangover" to "Just what I always wanted, loo roll + a side of thrush". Adding to the festive joy, the bog roll is decorated with gold trees and snowflakes.BITTER TRUTHIf you love salty foods, blame it on your genes. A study has shown that people with gene TAS2R38 are more sensitive to bitter flavours (like those of broccoli) and twice as likely to eat excessive amounts of salt. Too much salt in the diet can lead to high blood pressure which increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Researchers say that people with this gene may be using salt to mask the bitter taste in certain foods.LEARNING CURVEFor Indian students it's a case of #fat-must-fall. Universities in India are not only being asked to stop selling junk food, they're also being urged to start orientation programmes for students and staff around health issues caused by the consumption of junk food. The measures are being taken to reduce the incidence of obesity in students. It has been suggested that these programmes fall under the student welfare departments, and offer counselling on nutrition, exercise and psychological support. ..
