There are many highlights from the successful tour of Australia that stand-in captain Faf du Plessis will take with him, but the united team stand in the aftermath of the so-called Mintgate is something that will stay with him forever. The Proteas team rallied around their skipper in Melbourne after the crushing innings win in Hobart, from where the ball-tampering charge emerged. Du Plessis was fined 100% of his match fee but appealed against the verdict.South Africa won the three-match Test series 2-1, in the process becoming the first side to complete a series hat-trick since the West Indies in the 1980s and early 1990s.Du Plessis said: "The way we stood up to the [ball-tampering] matter as a team was remarkable and the way the guys went on to fight the battle for me on the field was remarkable and it's something you don't often see in sport."I think that says a lot about where we are as a team."He also admitted that he will step aside for AB de Villiers when he comes back from his elbow surgery when Sri Lanka come to town during the Christmas period.Following the convincing victory that has boosted his confidence and also cemented his position, Proteas head coach Russell Domingo said: "I don't know whether there has been a massive change in how the coaching team has gone about their business, but the players have put in a lot of work in the past few months."We are trying to get the best out of the players like we've always been striving to do."At this stage, the players are responding and there's a fit group of players to choose from."..
