Last week‚ TMG Digital reported that the level of the Vaal Dam is likely to increase for the 10th week running as rains in Gauteng replaced a heat wave.

The City of Johannesburg reported ‏on Wednesday that the prediction came true. @CityofJoburgZA tweeted:

On Thursday morning‚ it adjusted this slightly‚ retweeting Trevor Balzer ‏@Trevor_Balzer‚ who posted: “@DWS_RSA At 06:00 on 04/01/17 Vaal Dam 44.22% gauge plate reading down 0.14% last 24 hrs abstraction & evaporation exceed inflow #SaveWater”.

The increase was helped by overcast‚ cool and wet weather in Gauteng last week‚ and thunderstorms are expected to arrive in the province by Friday and continue until next Tuesday.
