The vehicle which had been stationed at the university piazza in front of the Great Hall since protests broke out in September last year‚ had among other things the words "Fuck the police" painted on it.

A keffiya scarf‚ which was worn by a lot of students during the protests‚ was also seen hanging from one of the Nyala's windows.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Sally de Beer confirmed that the vehicle had been vandalised overnight and that the police were investigating the case.

"The police are present to ensure the safety of all and it is regrettable that this has happened. We are taking steps to identify the culprits who could then face malicious damage to property charges‚" she said. - TMG Digital/The Times
