Gautrain goes off tracks, services suspended between Pretoria, Hatfield

Gautrain services have been suspended between Pretoria and Hatfield after one of the train derailed on Thursday morning.

Gautrain spokesperson Kesagee Nayager that as the train approached Hatfield station at low speed‚ a "minor derailment" occurred.

"All passengers on board the train were safely evacuated without any injury. A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident and our technicians are also working to fully restore the service.

"In the interim‚ a Gautrain bus service is transporting passengers between these two stations. The service to all other Gautrain stations remain unaffected. We will continue to keep passengers updated and sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused‚” said Nayager.
